The Affair S1 Finale Review

Hey People,

I know it's been awhile since I've written and I know this review is long overdue (been binging on shows I missed to see what to add to the list) so let's not waste anytime and let's get right down to it.

I've said it before and people have said as well. Why are their stories so drastically different especially when it comes to the important moments? Yes, I know people exaggerate and stories are seen and told differently for each person even if the event is the same, but seriously sometimes they are just totally out of sync I wonder if one of them was high and that's why they couldn't get the details of even the place correct. I mean seriously, how do you not know if Noah was beating up Scotty or not? Or even if one of them wanted to cover up that fact, why is the mother-in-law in one but not the other. This was my general complain for the season, I have a few more.

OMG, the worst character I thought was going to be Martin since the first time we meet him he faked a hanging. Seriously, who does that? But no he was not the worse, for someone passed him a long, long time ago in the season. Her name is Whitney. I don't how anyone can like Whitney. To me she is annoying as fuck. It wasn't the pregnancy, nor the abortion that bugged me. It was the fact that she said she loved him. Ugh, I wanted to throw her over the lighthouse when she said it and the fact that we all know Scotty doesn't give a shit just makes me want to smack her back into reality. I couldn't believe she went over to the Lockharts house. What was she planning to do over there? Become Scotty's wife? I thought I saw hope in her character when she asked Noah about her being a bad person. She isn't bad people, she's just stupid. I hope for next season she's the murder victim and anyone could be the killer because she's that annoying of a character. Hell, if she was killed, they shouldn't even bother finding the killer. He/She did everyone a favor.

The Affair S1 E9: He Said, She Said, Truth

Hey People,

Sorry for the lateness, turns out I'm not getting better. We'll see how tomorrow is. Meanwhile let me recap the penultimate episode of The Affair. It turns out I was wrong about who was telling the truth last time, but it seems like I always get it wrong. I just didn't want to believe that's how they said "I love you" to each other, but I guess it is.

The Affair S1 E8: He Said, She Said, Truth

Hey People,

It's been awhile since we did one of these, but it's not my fault. The show doesn't keep the same format for each episode and it's also been fun writing about their homes lives as well since that's been getting more action lately and for me, has been more exciting. I decided to do one for this episode because it seems like the show is going back to the original format and the stories were so different that we had to discuss it. I honestly don't get how they could mix up the story so bad. Alison's grandmother died, you would think they would remember the details of that night. Anyway let's get to it.

Hey People,

S2 E8
Bellamy came out of the closet and now everyone knows he's a returned. Maggie may have found a cure using the stems of Rachael's unborn baby. Speaking of the babe, Janine has basically kidnapped Rachael to protect the child from harm and also to separate Tom and Rachael since Tom is in love with Rachael, which isn't a shock to anyone. However, Tom may be a returned this episode since he was run over by Carl who attacked his church to antagonize the returned. I felt sorry for Carl in the beginning of the season, but now he's crossed the line. You don't hurt my Tommy.

In other news, Maggie forgave Lucille for her outburst at her mother. If she didn't she would have been a hypocrite since she wasn't that nice to her mother in the beginning either. Elaine is still taking care of her brother and no one knows if this stem cure might work or not. Henry just made a deal with the devil since Margaret didn't tell him the truth as to why his partner backed out of the deal and now he has put his house as collateral. You know this isn't going to end well.

Don't forget to watch the midseason finale tonight

S1 E7
Okay I may be slow to the party, but I just realized the title song is about someone dying. How depressing. But, if you don't like depressing you can always look at it like I will from now on by thinking at least this death created life. If you haven't really listened to the song I suggest you do to understand what I'm saying.

Anyway, there is no He Said, She Said, Truth because they were both on point this time. So they're both winners. I think this is the first time their stories are this similar to each other. Even though nothing really happened this episode this episode other than the spouses finding out, it was still a necessary episode because it showed who really cared for whom.

He Said

Oscar blackmailed Noah about the affair and eventually he couldn't take the stress it was giving him even though he got the $10,000 from his best friend and told his wife everything. She knew it was Alison.

She Said

Noah left her a note in her basket on her bike. When she put some food in it, it got stick to it and the receiver of it was her stepmother. Her stepmother burned the note even though she desperately wanted to see it. When Alison went to visit Oscar to make peace and a brother punched Oscar, Oscar thought it was a good time to disclose Alison's affair. This is how her husband found out. She thought they needed a breather from each other so she went to New York to visit her bestie. The whole time she was thinking of Noah and even visited his wife's job and their house, only to be shunned when Noah saw her. Her husband came back to find out who the guy was and she told him it was Noah. They ended up driving back home and to start over by making another child.

Hey People,

This show is getting more and more interesting by the minute, but I swear you would at least think they would be able to get the places right. So I guess the detective mean it when he said he was done interrogating both of them because he wasn't in this episode So are they talking to themselves now?

The Affair S1 E5: He Said, She Said, Truth

Hey People,

Originally, I wasn't planning on doing one for this episode since they only met 2 times and their lives were far more interesting outside the affair than in it to me so I have just decided to include their outside lives as well. At least for this edition anyway. Besides, I tried to write this on my recap page and it became too long so it works out in the end.

The Affair Renewed for Season 2

Hey People,

So I just found out The Affair will continue on for another season. I just watched the last episode, so I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet (it's not a huge spoiler though), but you do find out who was killed. Someone suggested another couple having an affair. I actually like that idea more. I doubt this story will be wrapped up in one season though, just by how slow the story is going, but I will say it did pick up the pace this last episode.

Even though I cover this show on a weekly basis, I'm not sold on their love story. I just stick around because I like how they tell the story, not the story itself, which is very odd how they begin their affair. However watching the last episode, I am now more intrigued about their family lives than their affair.

I don't know how these 2 do it. With all the stuff that's going on in their lives, how they make time for an affair and put everything on hold is beyond my comprehension.

This show doesn't make affairs sexy, but makes it look exhausting.

Yet, I still watch.

Hey People,

S2 E6
Quite a bit happened last episode so let's hop to it. Marty is sick with some type of mutated Spanish Flu, but they have a suppressor of a drug just not a lot of it to last for the whole neighborhood. Marty also finds out that this wasn't the first time that he died. He has died before with his family back in the day. Sad thing is his parents vanished 3 days earlier and only his sister is left. Because he's still sick, he didn't take her with him, but he promised to return for her, even though she has no idea who Marty is to her.

The other big story was the aftermath of Barbara vanishing. Man was Maggie brokenhearted about the situation. It was really sad because that's probably exactly how I would react. Margaret going around bulling people wasn't helping my emotions. I'm glad Fred was able to see through her b*llsh*t. I'm also glad he didn't resort back to the bottle. Even Lucille is starting to notice how Margaret is a bad influence on Jacob.

Henry is planning his start up for the factory and it seems like an evil returned grandfather and a grandson are going to be up to no good.

I just want to add that I hated the whiteboard in Angela's office. She's supposed to be all mathy and yet she needs the pi circle. How do you not know that by heart? I'm a math major, I should know. I'm also a little bit upset that they ruined the surprise of Marty finding out by showing it in the promos. I guess they really want to get people to watch.

I'm just waiting for the moment when Marty tells Maggie the truth. This show may not get a 3rd season so at least give me that.

S1 E4
Okay so this episode was a little bit different from the rest, which is why you just getting a regular recap this time since there really was no he said, she said, but instead, part 1 and part 2.

Part 1

Noah and Alison spend the whole day together on an island. We learn that Noah has only slept with 3 women in his life (now 4), his mother died when he was in high school, and he finished the 1st chapter of his book (and it was good). Alison has a mother with Alzheimer and her mother is a drifter. But things get out of control when Noah gets a call from his wife. They go their separate ways, but somehow they end up at a shop they started out in. Next destination, the bedroom.

Part 2

After the bedroom scene, they head to the beach to which they just end up going back to the B&B, for a 2nd round. During this round, Noah finds scars on her thigh, which ends the mood immediately for Alison. Noah doesn't know what he did wrong. In his fury, he kicks the piece of furniture and puts a dent in it. Luckily for him, the maid left the door into another room open. They become Bonnie and Clyde and switch furniture all to escape the payment of a broken one. Eventually, Alison breaks down and tells Noah why she cuts herself--her son, Gabriel, drowned. Alison thinks Noah only sees a broken women now, but Noah knows what he wants and he wants Alison. Commence the 3rd round, which ended with Alison's orgasmic sounds.

I actually liked how the show only focused on these 2 characters, especially since this was their first time together, but damn did they really have to do it in Alison's bed? As for the inconsistency of the night, Alison is most likely the one who got it right with the whole voice in the wind. I mean, she should be the one that gets it right since she's the one who's telling the story to Noah in both versions.

The detective is lying now too. Is he married or not? Does anyone tell the truth on this show?

No The Affair: He Said, She Said, Truth This Week

Hey People,

So I'm finishing up watching episode 4 of The Affair and I noticed that it was pretty much a truth episode with a little inconsistencies here and there, but for the most part it was on point. I've decided not to do a He Said, She Said, Truth because of it. So this last episode will just get a recap next Sunday.

I don't know if the format will resume the he said, she said format as before or if he will tell one part and she will finish that day like they did with this episode. It could have been because this was their first time together so they wanted to do something special. I don't know. We'll just have to wait and see.

I would like to take this time to correct my truths though. It seems like I got 3 wrong.

  1. Apparently, they did not have sex last week and they were just getting handsy with each other.
  2. Noah's version of the kiss was correct. She couldn't get out because she didn't know the code.
  3. Noah's version of getting handsy last week was also correct.
Seems like Noah is the one who's telling the truth more. Maybe I should start believing his version more instead of me thinking he's just sexualizing the crap out of these situations.

Be sure to check the recap out Sunday.

Hey People,

Okay so 2 people up and vanished last time. One I was very happy to see go and another, which I felt was too soon. Let's dive in.

Bellamy was trying to find out what happened at the factory, but hit a road block with Margaret even though she kind of did give him the answer.

Lucille felt guilty over what she did at the dinner the other day to Barbara, but Margaret was right there to tell her she did the right thing.

Barbara felt lonely because her fling 30 years ago has now lost its spark. Elaine comes to the rescue and comforts her. All she needed was a friend. I want to see more of her. Ever since her father disappeared, we haven't seen much of her, other than that awkward moment with Fred and her at the beginning of the season. Anyway, Elaine calls Maggie over to get to know her mother and she really break it down for Maggie when she reminds her that her mother is younger than them. All she wants is a friend.

In her drunk state of mind (I'm hoping she didn't drive because she was drunk and most likely she hasn't renewed her license yet), Barbara shows up on Fred's doorstep and one thing leads to another. Next thing you know, Barbara and Fred are opening the door that Margaret is standing behind. Well, good morning to you too. After that you knew Margaret was planning to get rid of her since she is the only one that knows how to get rid of a returned.

Margaret walks onto the porch acting all nice towards Barbara while Fred isn't home and then she takes her to the park to have a little chat. The chat turned into a full on attack about how everyone was fine before Barbara returned and that they don't need her. Elaine sees Margaret and Barbara talking and then all of a sudden it was just Margaret there. Elaine tells Maggie that her mother vanished and Maggie breaks down over how her mother left her again, but this time she actually knew her and saw how happy she made her dad. When she went to find Marty for comfort he wasn't there. Man has his own issues to deal with. He now has become sick and he still hasn't told Maggie he's a returned so he can't go to her for help. Instead, he thinks it's a good idea to drive and then curl up into a little ball.

Margaret is obviously a meddler and needs to be stopped.

Meanwhile, over at the Hale's house, Rachael fell ill, but then started to get better towards the end and Carl's *ssh*le of a brother also got sick, but Carl decided not to help him and as a result Carl's brother wished he never returned, and therefore, vanishes. I thought Carl was cold mother-shut-your-mouth brother, but at the same time, I understand why he did it.

The Affair S1 E3: He Said, She Said, Truth

Hey People,

So this was drastically different. In Noah's version they had sex. In Alison's version, they didn't even meet up that night. Well, this will be a hard Truth, but I'll make it work. Are they hinting at one of the Lockharts got killed because I think they are and I think both of them are trying to put the blame on Oscar.

Hey People,

Correction: I got it wrong last time, the bones weren't from just 1 person, but of 2 people that returned again and again.

I'm not gonna lie. This show had me tearing up when Jacob apologized to Barbara, I don't know why, but it totally got to me. Anyway, let's get into it.

Marty was kind of MIA for this episode and Elaine was totally MIA, but anyway Marty was researching the whole time on the bones they found in the river and trying to identify who they were.

Oct 28, 1982 was when Jacob died and Margaret takes it upon herself to change the tradition of Henry and Lucille's mourning into a day of celebration with family. She was talking about a specific people though aka not Barbara. All the Langstons that we've seen so far were under the same roof and man did that dinner not end so great.

Henry invited Barbara because Jacob wanted her there and Margaret invited Fred because that's her son and family is family to her except Barbara who Margaret sees as the devil. Henry forgives Fred because he's his brother and Margaret puts the idea into Lucille's head that Fred isn't to blame, but Barbara, who is the root of all evil. If it wasn't for Barbara having the affair, which lead her to meet her lover at the river and then slipping in said river and Jacob trying to save her, Jacob would be married with kids by now. Lucille feels she was robbed a better future by Barbara. Like I said, this dinner didn't end well.

Meanwhile over at the Hale house, Rachael finds out her baby is growing twice as fast, but the Hales decide for her to stay and they'll help anyway they can. Was I the only one thinking Tom is lucky to have 2 amazing girls by his side?

Fred finds out Margaret lied about not knowing who the last returned was and we find out that Margaret knows how to kill a returned because she helped kill those 2 people buried at the factory. If not by hanging, shooting, or fire then how? But one thing is for sure, we know who her first victim will be. That's a cool way to tell a story, but knowing what she was referring to creeped me out.

The returned are getting sick. Will Maggie find out Marty is a returned when he falls ill? Will he fall ill? We'll find out tonight.

The Affair S1 E2: He Said, She Said, Truth

Hey People,

So someone killed a man. Alison, just to let you know, helping the police by giving them theories just makes you look more suspicious. Was there some foreshadowing when Alison said, "Now I just hope I don't kill him?" I'm actually hoping it's Noah's father-in-law since so many people hate him at least Noah and Alison do.

Let's play: He Said, She Said, Truth

Hey People,

Welcome new member to the Sunday Lineup.

So a bunch of dead bodies show up in the river while the ex-pastor was performing baptisms. Well that's one way to be renewed. The 8 bodies that they found were all from the same dude. So The Returning Syndrome is not something new. It's happened before and for some reason granny new about those bones before chucking them into the river and carrying them south. The thing is her son is onto her.

Marty sees his dead body after making a deal with the she-devil to give over the 8 dead bodies found in the river. What's her deal? We still don't know. Maybe she's a necro. You never know.

Jacob finally goes to school to be with people his own age and Henry decides to start up the factory again.

Now let's talk about the cop guy, who wasn't getting any sleep--Carl. Man, do I feel bad for him. When he finally had enough and shot his brother multiple times, I was saying good for you in the back of my mind (I know really bad of me, but you have to understand his brother...there are just some people...okay there is no legit reason to kill someone, but this is a TV show so just let me have this one). His brother really needed to die, but sadly because of TRS he just came back, b*tching more than ever since his chair had blood all over it. TRS is not for everyone folks. Some people just need to stay dead.

The Affair Pilot Review

Hey People,

So I watched The Affair and I heard how different this show was and wanted to check it out. Besides, I really like the topic of infidelity and wanted to see how well they could do it because I think most shows can't pull it off. I thought this show was interesting and I have noticed most people use this word to describe The Affair, but it's the perfect word to describe it. Let me explain.

Summary: It's about...well...an affair, but the reason why they're telling this story is a whole other story.

I like the way the writers tell this story because as they say, it takes two to tango so I'm glad we get to see both the male and female perspective of how this affair came to be. It is interesting however that some situations have a drastic change like how the girl spit out the marble. Something that serious, shouldn't differ that drastically as to how it was spit out. I mean, I think people would remember if she was turned upside down or not, but that's just me. However, as we later find out this story took place awhile ago. So long ago that the female has a child to pick up when she wasn't even pregnant (or have a kid since he already died in 2012) when she met the male. So we can assume it's been at least 9 months. Then again, maybe she adopted. Or maybe they're together now and she refers to his kids as her. Just throwing things out there.

The Affair S1 E1: He Said, She Said, Truth

Hey People,

It's time to play "He Said, She Said, Truth" where we look at both perspectives and see who was most likely telling the truth.
  1. Choking on a marble and the restroom
    • Noah: He patted her back to save his daughter and then went to go check on his son in the restroom after the incident. He ran into Alison coming out of one the bathrooms and saw her crying because of his daughter and said kids will be kids. After his family finished eating, they were all in the van until Noah realized he forgot to leave a tip and went back to tip Alison. Finally, they introduce themselves to each other.
    • Alison: Alison told Noah to turn his daughter upside down so she could spit out the marble. Alison stepped in and patted her on the back to spit out the marble. Alison then proceeded to the bathroom to throw up until she heard a knock at the door. It was Noah coming to thank her and ask her if she wanted a reward to which she said no. Then Noah asked if she was going to come back to finish taking their order. Finally, they introduce themselves to each other.
    • Truth: I'm going to have to go with Noah's version. There is no way that someone could see someone so distraught that they had to go to the bathroom and then ask them if they were going to finish taking their order. If Noah was that much of an ass, then I don't see why she would start this affair to begin with. Secondly, I don't get the whole upside down, pat them on the back trick. Does that even work? More likely Noah patted his daughter on the back in his version.
